Description
NGC 2683 is a highly-inclined spiral galaxy in the constellation Lynx. It is around 8 Mpc distant (around 25 million light years). While a central bar is not discernible, it may still be present, but hidden due to the angle of sight. NGC 2683 is smaller and less massive than the Milky Way, but hosts approximately the same number of globular clusters (i.e., around 300). There is a fair amount of dust in the galaxy, but not much neutral hydrogen compared to other galaxies, which indicates a lower rate of star formation. Image exposure times: L -- 80 minutes R,G,B -- 60 minutes each
