Pillars of gas and dust surround the open star cluster NGC6823. These pillars, which are similar to the famous “Pillars of Creation” were formed by radiation/stellar wind pressures from the nearby star cluster. The length of the longest pillar is measured in light-years. At the tip of the largest pillar you can see the radiation created by newly formed stars. The open star cluster is 50 light-years in diameter and lies in the constellation Vulpecula (Little Fox) at a distance of 6,000 light-years.
