Messier 77 (lower left) is a barred spiral galaxy 47 million light-years distant in the constellation Cetus (The Sea Monster). M77 is ~1.7 times larger in diameter than our Milky Way and is classified as a Seyfert galaxy which contain a very luminous nucleus powered by a super massive black hole. Moving to the right center of the image 442,000 light-years we see the edge-on spiral galaxy NGC1055.
