Description

NGC7538 is a molecular cloud of active star formation. As giant clouds of dust and gas collapse due to gravitational attraction vast amounts of thermal energy are produced which in turn starts a tug of war between the inward gravitational forces and outward kinetic forces caused by the heated molecular cloud. Fragments of material produced by this tug of war continue to contract and produce protostars. NGC7538 contains such a protostar which is ~300 times the size of our own Solar System. NGC7538 is located in the constellation Cepheus and is 9,100 light-years distant. http://owlmountainobservatory.com https://www.facebook.com/OwlMountainObservatory
