This is the Running Man nebula (NGC 1977). This colorful burst of light is about 1,500 light years away in the constellation Orion. The blue is actually spacedust scattering light of nearby stars, while the red consists of glowing clouds of hydrogen gas. This image is the result of about 17 hours of photos. The subframes were 15 minutes each. There are 22 clear subs, and 15 of each RGB. \
