Description

NGC772 is known as a "peculiar" spiral galaxy. This galaxy while looking quite small in this image is actually almost twice as large as our Milky Way. NGC772 is ~130 million light-years distant and lies in the constellation Aries.. The single prominent outer arm is most likely due to a gravitational interaction with its neighboring elliptical galaxy NGC770. If you look closely you can see faint streams of shared material which connect NGC772 with its companion galaxies. http://owlmountainobservatory.com https://www.facebook.com/OwlMountainObservatory
