Description

This image contains both a wide field and closeup view of Messier 45, aka Pleiades star cluster, aka Merope Nebula. It was once believed that the star cluster formed from the surrounding nebulosity. It is now however thought that these stars are simply passing through the dusty molecular cloud. This star cluster lies in the constellation Taurus at a distance of 440 light-years. http://owlmountainobservatory.com https://www.facebook.com/OwlMountainObservatory
