Description

Something a lot of people don't realize is you can generate 3D pairs of a rotating object just by taking photos at given intervals. The photo is a crop from the ATW Customer Galley shot displayed on March 29, 2016. It is the two, upper left shots of Jupiter and Io taken by James Phillip on Sept 20, 2009. To view, cross your eyes until you see three images of Jupiter. The one in the center will be in 3D as it is a fusion of the two images. Alternately, you can use a stereo viewer or use software to create a red / blue anaglyph It should also be possible to make 3D photos of the lunar landscape by taking shots of the moon at different points in its libration cycle. The only requirement is the lighting conditions have to be close as possible to being the same for each image in the 3D pair. This will be a challenge as each image could taken years apart.
