Description
Messier 27 is about 1360 light years distant, and beyond the bright contrasting colors, shows zones of dust and gas as knots in its structure. This is from the same image posted a few days ago, but zooms in to view the inner structure of this fabulous object. Images from Hubble show much more detail in the knots, but from a 14.5" ground-based scope I'm pleased to see these features. Canon T3i at prime focus to 14.5" Zambuto mirror Starmaster dobsonian, with Skycommander goto and tracking. This is a single 30-second exposure.
