Description

This is a composite image of Mars created from 13 stacked images and processed in Photoshop. I used a Takahashi 152 mm refractor and a Nikon Coolpix 5400 camera and shot the images at ISO 200 for 1/60 seconds. Seeing is everything in imaging the planets and I have tried Lucky Imaging with a ZWO camera but in poor seeing conditions and didn't like the results. So whether you're stacking just a few images like I did here or stacking a few thousand using Lucky Imaging, the seeing will be the governing factor in most cases. My images were taken from my back porch on October 28, 2005 and only recently did I revisit these images to process them with the new methods developed since 2005.
