Description
A bit off the beaten track ... this is NGC 2537, also called Arp 6, also called the "Bear Paw" galaxy with the companion NGC 2537 A ( the little galaxy below it ) in Lynx. The edge on is IC 2233 and is not at the same distance as NGC 2537. Around "1 o'clock" there is a suggestion of extremely distant galaxies ... at least 3-4 billion light years judging by the red shift. NGC 2537 is a blue compact dwarf galaxy ... the glow around it is real ... it's not bad optics. Taken with the PW CDK 17 and the SBIG STLX 16200 CCD with Chroma filters from my home observatory in Foresthill.
