March 1 was supposed to be cloudy, but we were very lucky to have clear skies for this close encounter of these two planets, visually about a half degree separation at local twilight. The best image turns out to be the iPhone picture that is the overall main frame, showing some background trees for context. Jupiter is on the left, Venus on the right. Some images were acquired with my ZWO ASI294MC pro camera on William Optics Zenithstar 61 and 2x ED barlow for 720mm total focal length, framing both planets just within the edges. A cut-out of Jupiter from a couple of these images are pasted at the upper left, one at lower exposure to show some cloud bands, the other at higher exposure to show the moons Io, Ganymede and Callisto, positioned in that order moving up from Jupiter.
