AMAZING Solar Video from Japan's Hinode Spacecraft
March 21, 2007: It's enough to make you leap out of your seat: A magnetic vortex almost as big as Earth races across your computer screen, twisting, turning, finally erupting in a powerful solar flare. Japan's Hinode spacecraft recorded just such a blast on Jan. 12, 2007.

Amazing views of the sun. Did anyone else note the very short phase of a series of spots appearing on the video as if some sort of reflection occurred off gas clouds or particles (or whatever) about 3/4 of the way through the colour video ?

Any idea what these were ?

Murray
I can't wait to see more ... I would like to see a manned mission to Mars but if the cost of such a venture would take away financial resources from missions like this then I would have to vote to hold off for awhile. The images coming from these specialized probe missions are both awesome and inspiring.
