Jerry, just read your goodgood Astronomy day squib on Astromart. I'm a Healdsburger (medium rare). Dying to know where you set up your scopes, etc. I always think of our town as having too many trees & streetlights. Love it if you dropped me a line.

Joe
[email protected]
Hi Joe

Thanks for your kind words. The astronomy day event focused (no pun intended) on bright objects you could probably see from inside a lit up football statium (Jupiter, Saturn, Moon). In fact, being at the corner of North and Healdsburg ave kind of felt like that! The most common events for seeing through nice scopes are at Robert Ferguson Observatory, not far from us (Sugarloaf State Park). Check out their public events at their website www.rfo.org also check out our Sonoma County Astronomical Society website at www.sonomaskies.org

Also, on new moon saturnday nights (when the weather is clear), astronomers go to the Lone Rock area at Lake Sonoma. Keep in mind when going to such sites, get there before dark, or turn off the car lights before turning in if it's already dark.

Feel free to message me here anytime, or send email to the webmaster link at the Sonoma County Astronomical Society website.

All the Best
Jerry
