Boy, this is why I come to Astromart....now even better. I don't know how I would have found this before, but this is a very useful tool.

Thanks!

Jeff

"The only thing required is access to either Adobe Photoshop® or Adobe Photoshop Elements®, both leading image software packages."

I have Photoshop Elements 2; but when starting the install it says the program is not detected...please install...and try again.

Any help!?

I don't own either Adobe program, so I am not able to provide customer support for NASA on this one - but I can direct you to a couple of their help pages that may harbor an answer:

Known Issues

see Installation Notes near the bottom

You might also try asking about it in the CCD Imaging forum right here at AstroMart.

Best of luck.

-Paul S. Walsh
Editor, AstroMart/ATWB

Which platform are you installing on, OSX or Windows? I'm about to give it a try.

-Alan Erickson

I haven't tried the automatic installer. I had good luck with the manual installation (instructions are just below the automatic installation instructions).

-Alan

Works great with PS 7.0 on XP home and 2000 Pro.

Thanks all!
I did end up doing a manual install. Everything seems to be working.

For those wanting to process Fits files but who lack photoshop or who want a different sort of tool, there is always Christen Buil's Iris. Primarily aimed at the the amateur astrophotographer, Iris is freeware, handles not only fits files but JPG, TIFF and others and it is freeware. It has many tools including automatic photometry.

www.astrosurf.com/buil/us/iris/iris.htm

Christen Buil is one of the original amateur CCDers and has some very notable projects underway for amateur astronomers in the areas of Variable star observing and spectroscopy.

jon
