In 2004 Intel's fastest chip was 3.4 Ghz. It's little more than that today.
Today's processor's are 2x-3x more powerful than 2004's, due to heavy use of multi-core architectures. So you can have dual or quad core processors at the same speed, for about the same power and cooling. <br><br>If the OS supports multi-core (and they do), you're still riding Moore's law.<br><br>We may be near the end of the road for Moore's law, but I wouldn't bet on that.<br><br>sf<br>
