A detailed, very well-written, review, Eric.

Tom
I own a "loaded" DM-6, purchased new in January 2007. I must disagree with your comment about having to cut & reglue the shelf if you want a right-handed mount. You just remove the tray and turn it around! The only issue with this is that the cutout for the cables is designed to be used more easily for a left-handed design. This can be addressed by notching the tray or filing a notch with a round file.

If you mount the Sky Commander to the front of the DM-6 for easier visibility, no change is required. OR, you can rotate the focuser to be vertical if you keep the left-handed configuration. This requires a minor habit modification.

The DM-6 is awesome. I have used it with a 30+ pound 152mm scope on a GM-8 tripod with 12" extension. My normal configuration is left-handed with a 110mm and the GM-8+extension. I can't say enough about this mount!
