Mathematics Unites the Heavens and the Atom
In recent years, mathematicians have discovered an almost perfect parallel between the motion of spacecraft through the solar system and the motion of atoms in a chemical reaction--a hidden unity that has led to innovative new ways to design space missions. NOTE: French, German, Italian, and Spanish translations follow...
Comments:
What youth learning orbitals and valence states of molecules could not help but notice the similarity between solar system models and electron orbital models. As a youth, we'd comment on how the universe probably continues infinitely in both directions with this basic configuration. Although we soon realized this was not gravitationally possible, this article confirms how in science basic ideas reapplied can often have great additional value.
