Had to say it, even if it's not really true.

I look through my chromes on a light box with a Zeiss loupe and nothing, NOTHING will ever look as good to the eye. Slide film.. on a light box.. in a loupe.. it's beautiful beyond compare, a look that can't be touched by anything on a computer monitor.

That said.. damn is film based photography annoying. I cant stand archiving the stuff, keeping it clean, keeping scanners clean, having to turn it digital from analog, dealing with 50 to 100 megabyte scan files in ADDITION to the physical media.

But the films... the super pop of Velvia, the wonderful tones of Astia, the almost 3D intense images of slow Kodachrome.

It's a love/hate thing if there ever was one. I am very spoiled by digital SLR and compact flash cards and I will never go back.

But man, the grain... get aload of the beautiful grain of some slide films when scanned out to 20+ megapixels. Yes indeed, beautiful bokeh renderings of out of focus areas painted in gorgeous color transitions dappled in wonderful grain. I LOVE it, I really do.

Lets raise a frosty mug to fine lenses, good bokeh, good grain, loupes and lightboxes and our favorite FILMS we will never forget.
