RS Ophiuchi Recurrent Nova Errupts!
RS Ophiuchi, (NR) Recurrent NOVA Errupts!

It was at 12.5mag. and jumped to "Naked Eye" ~4.8 a few days ago
..It's been about 21 years since the last major eruption!

RS Ophiuchi is dropping in magnitude now, currently at mag 5.3, so get out
and take a look as soon as it clears.

I took this shot this morning, despite the rain & clouds in Dayton, Ohio........I used my old backup cumulus filter ;-) ...AREO

I dialed up AREO3 at RAS-Observatory, NM this morning......at around 5:00am
New Mexico Time!

Despite the Nearly full moon in the sky and approaching morning twilight, I was able to get a decent shot!

The brightest star at center of this image is RS Ophiuchi Recurrent Nova this morning
on 02/16/06.

I took this 8 Minute shot with a Takahashi Sky90 and an ST-10XME CCD,

L= 4x 30sec, R= 4x 30sec, G= 4x 30sec, B= 4x 30sec exposures.

Imaging Hints & Tips!!!!

When it comes to bright stars in the CCD field I will usually try to take
short exposures and stack them to help prevent CCD blooming, unless your
CCD chip has Anti-blooming built in. You can remove blooms with software
too, but it often creates artifacts!!! I used the short exposure method,
for this pretty shot of the RS Ophiuchi in Outburst.

Observers are reporting that RS looks pretty good in Binoculars, too!
RS Ophiuchi is low in the southeast at around 5:00am local time.

Try to find M14, it is down below that globular....or for more details & a finder chart
