Anthony,
Congradulations! I enjoyed reading this review. I think you did a good job of showing the strengths and weaknesses of this telescope.
David E

Thanks for the kudos, David.

I tried to be as fair and honest as I could.

As we know, a lot of times when people talk, things are greatly exagerated. I wanted to put this one to rest.

I plan on updating the review in future as I've viewed more objects.

Anthony,

Nice review! I have the Orion version of this scope, and love to use it when I can get under dark skies.

Re aperture mask, try one near 72mm (2.8inch). With this mask, you will have a 2.8inch f/8.5 scope. These dimensions satisfy the three-to-one rule for traditional long achromats (e.g., 4inch f/12, 5inch f/15, 6inch f/18, etc.), for which chromatic aberration tends to be unobjectionable for most visual users. This 72mm aperture also passes twice as much light as the 50mm dust cover stop. I think you will find this arrangement very enjoyable for lunar and casual planetary viewing up to about 120X.

Clear skies,
Bart Huxtable
Gambrills, MD
