Celestron Accessory Kit! Best accessory purchase ever!

The Celestron Accessory Kit can usually be found for $99.99 and it has become one of the ultimate bargains for the beginning astronomer. Besides the rock solid case holding it all, the kit includes five wonderful Plossl eyepieces. Most astronomers know they have a weak link in their system, be it the mount, the eyepieces, or even the telescope itself. I know I have some weak links, but know I will not be replacing my Plossls anytime soon. In my eight inch Schmidt-Cassegrain I have yet to see coma in any eyepiece. In my lower end f/6 refractor, the outer five percent has coma and that’s it! The 2x shorty barlow takes those five eyepieces and gives you ten different powers, allowing for that magnification that is just right. It’s no powermate, but for the money, I would easily call this one a keeper.

Lets not forget the other things included in the kit. The six planetary filters are all useful in their own way, from improving Comet NEAT, to making the great red spot more prominent. Ever want to see different bands on Jupiter or Saturn then the same old ones? Several of the filters bring out different bands, allowing a new level of planetary observing to be brought out. The ND25 filter is by far one of the best filters, as a bright full moon can destroy dark-adapted vision, and when the ND25 is added on, a plethora of moon features jump out as you can now look at the moon without wincing in pain from so much light.

Whether you’re new to the hobby or just need a few eyepieces, you could never go wrong with such a great bargain.
