You are invited to attend the 2005 Prairie Skies Star Party. Prairie Skies Star Party will be held at beautiful Camp Shaw-Waw-Nas-See 4-H camp, near Kankakee Illinois. Pre-registration deadline is 08-27-05. Enjoy all night observing plus; catered meals, door prizes, vendors, a swap market, and the many special activities we have planned. Visit the Prairie Dog Stand and enjoy a cup of their famous chili. As always, free coffee and hot chocolate will be available all day and night throughout the event. Our ever popular, all night movie festival will feature sci-fi movies every night in the Dining Hall. We place a special emphasis on amateur telescope making, by recognizing outstanding achievement through our ATM telescope and accessory awards. Please join us as we "continue the tradition" at Camp Shaw. Camp Shaw provides a secluded location, well protected from the glare of off-site lighting. The main observing field is large and grass covered, making it ideal for observing and camping. Rustic barrack style cabins are available for non-campers. A large Dining Hall serves as a gathering place for many of the scheduled activities. Enjoy walking through the woods on one of the many shady hiking trails; one of which follows Rock Creek as it traverses the camp property through a small canyon.
