Maybe a flat rate charge?

Maybe a flat rate charge say $50 to $100 a year would work. Everyone pays $40 or whatever a year for 12 months of Sky & Tele, why not do the same for Astromart? I would be glad to pay $100 a year for using A-M!

I would much rather have A-M than Sky & Tele anytime, i love A-M more than anything else on line, and dont think i can live without it!
So think hard guys, what would you do without A-M?

While most users might be able to, not everyone could afford $50-100. $5-10 a year would be more reasonable. While I try to maintain my support of Amart, it is at the $30 level. If it were $100 I, too, would disappear. The idea is to keep Amart up for everyone, not turn it into an "elitist" web site. The problem is the number of those who can support Amart who don't.

I dont know how many people use A-M, but i'm sure there are around 100 big time users. I dont really sell that much anymore, but i see some people have well over a 100 ratings! Just 100 people paying 100 a year would be $10,000, i dont know what it cost to run A-M. But i would do whatever it takes to save A-M!

Maybe a flat rate charge for the biggest users, say 50 to $100 a year, and a smaller charge for people that use A-M even less, say maybe $15 to 25?

I'm just trying to think of something will work.

Everyone has interesting points. IMHO, the best idea presented in this thread so far (after the honor system - no disrespect Herb, it is great, and once I get out of school and have the money to spare, I have every intention of sposoring!!!) is the registration fee (I mentioned this in another forum). Something like a flat rate, as mentioned, could be unfair to some. Also a per-ad fee would only charge those using the ads, and not the forums. The only way I can see making a manditory fee fair is to have it manditory at registration. (this would also help deter people from having multiple accounts!) I look over and see that 758 new users were registered this month alone...the fee wouldn't need to be hefty! The biggest concerns that pops into my head are, do you charge the people already registered, and will this deter people from signing up??? Although I would be willing to pay, I'm sure some already registered would not. Thanks for listening (reading)

As of this writing there are 787 new users for AstroMart this month alone. If each of them had been charged $5 for an ANNUAL subscription, would the $4,000 per month revenue sustain the site? Only Herb knows...
