How do I get a (bogus) bad rating removed?

In over 6 years of using AMart, I have NEVER received anything less than a perfect transaction rating...until now.

Recently I had a negative rating posted by a person who has never spoken or communicated with me in any way, except that he sent an email stating he wanted to buy an eyepiece I was selling. His email was not sent in time -the eyepiece had already been sold.

I normally respond to all emails, even if the item has been sold...as a matter of courtesy. Evidently I overlooked responding to this particular person.

He never communicated his dissatisfaction to me. The first I knew was when he posted a negative rating.
This has caused my otherwise perfect rating to be downgraded.

I have posted a comment to this effect in the ratings listings...but it doesn't change my rating downgrade.
Do I have any recourse to change this?

Thank you,

Mike Harvey

Herb can snuff that guy out. If there was no deal made then the guy can't rate you.

I would contact Herb.

Mike,

Please forward this information to Herb. This is a violation of the TOS. He can not rate you unless a deal actually went down.

Mike

Looking at your profile you have recieved 17 good ratings but only given 3.

Why only 3 ???

Just a courtesy e-mail stating the item was sold may have avoided this thread. I try and answer every e-mail sent to me until the item is marked sold, it's just a courtesy I'd expect if I'm going to send my money to somebody I've never met. It's also important to rate a person after a transaction so others know this guy is OK to do business with. I can learn a lot about a user when they are heavily rated and rarely rate others.
