Unitron 4" Equatorial

Bought the ota's separate from the mount and now she's all together! I do have one problem though, the latitude adjustment nut/bolt assembly is not long enough for my latitude...it only goes down to 45 degrees and I'm at 39 degrees. Any ideas?

Try lowering the front leg of the tripod a bit. If I am not mistaken, it need not be perfectly level to polar align.
Or, maybe with a lot of effort, the bolt could be exchanged with a longer one, but I suspect there would be no room to do that.
Any chance you could provide a close-up shot for us to examine?

He is an artist with a lathe. He has made several things for me. I have seen a big scope (23 inch refractor) that was modified with what you might call a reverse wedge. This wedge imparted the latitude difference in the negative - so, in your case a downard pitch of 6 degrees. This is the large Clark Refractor at Roper Mountain, that was moved from Princeton, NJ to Greenville, SC.
