Binoviewers and Cataracts

Howdy all - I've got my breath back after reading the last hundred or so posts (whew!) and I've got a question: Have any of you bino-users had cataract surgery? And does the binoviewer really have a dramatic effect on vision? I've got an implant in my right eye that throws some pretty good sparks and flares when viewing bright objects and I'm getting my left eye done next month. Mono-viewing is getting to be a pretty big strain.
Any comments/commiseration would be appreciated.

Mark,

no cataracts in my eyes, but: one of the things binoviewing is really great for is if you have "non-symmetrical" issues with your eyes. Why? Because the brain will filter out what it can only see in one eye - things like floaters, for example, and likely a lot of the cataract problems. I'd give it a try for sure.

Mark,

I have to agree with Hinrich.

However if at all possible try to find someone at a star party with a nice set of binoviewers and look through them before you plunk down a lot of hard earned cash.

Depending on what you are viewing a moon filter or neutral
density filter may be helpful on brighter objects.
Good luck,Scotty
