Suppose...A. Nagler starts a company "BlueSky" and without any reference to himself or TeleVue, he takes a thousand Pans and Naglers and renames them "Econolens". The company offers "the highest quality eyepieces," for $79 for 68° and a variety of 82° widefield of the "highest quality" for $109. A friend shows you one and says they are really quite good and decides to order an entire set. How many "Econolens" would you order the next day? How long would the thousand eyepieces last on Astromart and would you be like your friend or decide only TeleVue will be in your eyepiece case?
I wish I could say I was like my friend more often than not but which one are you?

If there was a published thirty day money back guarantee I would be trying out the Econolens. My eyepiece needs were met by Siebert Optics designs. I purchased a set of 32mm 52degree,22.5mm 65degree UltraPlus and 19mm,15mm,11mm,
70degree Ultras. TeleVues were never in my budget and in side by side comparisions with Pentax's and Panoptics I can't see a difference in performance. The lighter weight of the eps is also is nice for binoviewing purposes.

Tom,

I try them all and keep the ones that work best for me. Don't care what name brand is on them, whichever peforms the best for me will win every time. Where can I get the Econolens? wink

I've tried 21 different pairs of ep's in my binoviewers over the past year.

What has stayed is dominated by Televue, not because I'm a Televue snob, but because they worked better than the others. Although, the 15 Pan has been a disappointment (comfort and image wise) and I haven't found a replacement yet. I will say that in some cases, the only advantage the TV brought to the table was a well corrected wide FOV. Even the lowly 25mm Sirius plossl compared well against the 24 Pan, except for AFOV. None of the type 6 Naglers beat the UO orthos for image quality, but that extra 37 degrees of AFOV is sure nice.

So, bring 'em on. If Econolens can put up the same performance and ergonomics as my TV's, I'll sell the TV's in a heartbeat. Then I can use the money I saved to get into Ha and imaging.
