Anyone see the 16" mirror on *bay? They say it's f/1.2 "Terabeam". Anyone got any better ideas what this would be for other than what I'm thinking?

My guess is that Terabeam means it is/was used in a spotlight.

I need a good boat anchor - any info on thickness or weight?

Hi all -- I bought one of these a while back just for fun and did some research on possibilities. Their curve is spherical, not parabolic. Primaries like these have been used in scopes with Gregorian optics which if I'm remembering right mates the spherical primary with a spherical secondary mirror. The images produces are 'normal', not inverted or reversed. I was told that with a secondary of appropriate focal length the set up might make a decent low power scope for wide field scanning. I got as far as testing the 16" with cheap but handy parabolic secondary and with a struggle did get an upright image, barely visible for lack of any shielding. That was a year or more ago. I'll get back to it someday.

I have several telescopes, but none are semi-APO, APO, or in anyway valuable.
