I just picked up one of these scopes and my question is this, would it help to go with an adapter so I can use 1.25" eyepieces instead of the smaller .965 eyepieces? Would I really get better views with higher quality eyepieces on this basic type of scope?

Any thoughts?

Thank you,

Mike

Hello Mike! 8)
Higher quality eyepieces will NEVER hurt, as they can always improve your views. (so yes, getting the adapter and the larger eyepieces would be nice, as you would also have a better selection to choose from)(even though you would STILL be limited by the .965" visual back)

I have not seen your scope up close and personal, so I cannot say "for sure" if a 1.25" Visual Back could be adapted into it, so that you could use a 1.25" diagonal and eyepieces (which would be ideal).

Maybe others will chime in and help out..., but I just wanted to give my .02 pesos contribution... 8)

You can get a LAR (Large accessory ring) if you have other standard SCT accessories. The LAR converts the C-90 thread to the standard SCT thread. I have one on my 79/80 C-90 and have used it for years. I think scopetronix makes an adapter for this purpose too.
What I liked was the ability to use a standard SCT T adapter to mount my camea to it. Made an excellent hand hold. Also, having other C-8's I am able to use all my standard accessories.
