19mm or 22mm panoptic

Hi, I have a C8 and I am looking at getting an eyepiece with abit more Wow! factor over my 26mm plossel. I think I have narrowed the field down to these two. I only have a 1-1/4 inch right angle and the 22mm looks alittle bit clumsy with the 2" barrel but would give a bigger field of view. I also use my focal/reducer when viewing DSO. If any one has a real favorite I would love to know what it is.
Cheers Steve.

Couple comments:

I'd probably get the 19 Pan since its alot
smaller and lighter, and has
nearly the same field of view.

The 2" barrel on the 22 Pan can be removed.
If I recall right, you have to unscrew the
black part of the eyepiece from the rest of it.
Then remove the 2" collar from the 1.25"
part. And finally screw the 1.25" part back into
the black part. But even so, it will still be
very tall and heavy.

There is a new 24 Pan 1.25"-only eyepiece due
out in a couple months. Will probably be pricey
however. I looked through a demo version
recently and its very nice.

An inexpensive alternative would be to find an
old TeleVue 24mm Wide Field on the used market,
if you can find someone willing to part with theirs.
(Sorry you can't have mine.) The field edge is
not quite as sharp as the Pans, but its not bad.
Usually TeleTrade has one for sale.

Good luck, - John B.

The 19mm Panoptic was the finest DSO eyepiece I have ever used.....unfortunately I couldn't handle the eye relief. I'm now using an 18mm Radian. Great eye relief and almost as good.

The 22 has a bit more "wow" factor, but the 19 is physically smaller. Other than that, it's a toss-up.
