Is this used mainly for CCD imaging & photography work, or can it be useful for visual application also, thanks John M

I mainly use mine for photography - it makes exposure times a lot quicker.

Visually, it was okay in my C8 for the brighter DSOs, but reduced the image and detectability of faint to very faint galaxies. So I'd never keep it permanently attached.

I certainly needed it my C8 when I was trying to see the Horsehead nebula in a 40mm eyepiece with the H-Beta filter. I could barely make it out without the reducer, but it was pretty obvious with it.

It's also obviously handy when you've got just one, or very few, Ultra Wide angle eyepieces. For example, my Meade 14mm UltraWide acts as a 22mm UltraWide would do (if it existed) when the reducer is attached.
