Advice on LX90

Looking to buy my first scope. I have an oppertunity to buy a 10 mo. old, 8" LX90, with EQ wedge, Pelican case and LPI for $1500. Does this sound like a good deal for this scope? I was also wondering if the LNT feature on the new version of this scope makes it worth looking at a new one.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Hi Joe.
My first scope was an LX-90, with UHTC, purchased new a little less than 2 years ago. It cost about $1500 at the time. I got one of the last ones without the LPI standard, as I was trying to keep the cost within reason. The extra's that are included add value to your prospective scope, but only if you use them. You could always resell what you don't need.
I found the setup to be really easy, and personally don't see the need for the LNT. It seems like a gimmick to me, which just raises the price further.
I was very happy with the LX-90, as a first scope. The GoTo system helped me learn my way around the sky. One look through a 16" Dob though, and I knew I had to get some more aperture. wink I still use it sometimes.
Good luck with your choice.

Joe,
The LX90 is a excellent value for the dollar. It is portable, easy to setup and the goto is as good as anyones. I agree with the other post, don't get hung up on accessories. Those will come in time. First enjoy the scope, learn how to use it effectively and you'll discover as you use it what additional "goodies" you might want.

Hope this helps in a small way.
