Has anyone successfully been able to get good results with a top quality Bino, ( TeleVue ) or better? Used one with my 102 refractor and it worked great! My new C8 is another story.. let me know if anyone has. Thanks, JM

I use a Siebert 2" bino regularly on my Nexstar 8. It requires a Ray's Bracket extension.

Eyepieces used include: Siebert Ultra Plus 32's and 17.5's.

Those eyepieces work like a champ. Views are very nice, particular moon, planets and stuff like the Orion nebula, double cluster, M13, etc. The 2" format allows wider true fields than the 1.25" format eyepieces, which helps for some stuff.

Nagler 26's are a wee bit heavy, and for some reason are harder to get eyes to bino in the 8" than a 12" Meade SCT.

An attempt to bino using Nagler 12's wasn't too successful.

In general, the 2" Sieberts seem to require more time that other binos I've used, for the brain to be bino trained. After training, things snap into bino pretty easily on subsequent nights.

Binos are definitely a big step in a new direction for visual observing. Don't know why it took so long to become more popular ( it's expensive! )... but one look at a pseudo-3D moon or double cluster and most people are hooked!

Cheers

John,

I use the Celestron model on my C14 and LOVE it. This is the older model made by Baader.

I just had first light with a pair of BW-Optik binos on my C8 last night. They work very well.
