Hello gentleman
Thanks for all the advice, I'm starting to connect some dots here.Big scope needs stable mount if one wants imaging bliss...so how about if I throw this out there. I buy the CM1400, use the mount for a field tripod..buy a pier mount from astro pier?(I don't think a pier mount and the CGE are compatible). Of course I will try imaging with the factory mount just to see.
Oh yes one more thing for anyone that knows anything about "GO TO's" can I manually move the scope without whacking out the encoders and losing the computers position?
As you can see I'm starting to wonder what set up to use.

Well... owning a LX-200GPS, I can tell you that if you want to move your scope manually, you can, but you would have to "disengage" your drives to do so... therefore you'll lose your GOTO's capabilities...
Either you let the scope do it's thing, or you do it yourself....... to GOTO or not to GOTO... that's the question....

I've got a bad case of aperture fever and I am considering a similar configuration.

Just one question that came up in the Yahoo discussion group: it was suggested that I look at a Mewlon (250 or 300). Can anyone make any comment about the differences between the C-14 and the Mewlons (other than the huge price difference)?
