I have an older Canon EOS Elan film camera, and I am considering getting a new Canon Digital Rebel so I can use it for astrophotography.

Does anyone know if I can use the lenses from
the EOS on the Rebel? Thanks for any info with this.

Ken, with Canon EOS lens you should have no issues. If you are using 2nd parties like Sigma you may experience compatability issues.

The Dig Rebel is a nice camera!

Good luck,

FYI. Canon EOS lenses have a 1.6X multiplier effect when used with the Digital Rebel or other Canon DSLR. For example, a 50mm lense with your old Elan will be an 80mm lense with the Digital Rebel. I believe it has to do with fully illuminating the chip.

Best wishes,

Randy
