Celestron CI-700

The drive controller is bad in our (the college where I work) mount. Celestron does not carry parts. Everything seems to be fine except the controller will not operate the motors. Does anyone know of a source for parts or for a generic controller that will work? This flaw was revealed as the observatory was being restored to service after Hurricane Katrina. The college campus on which the observatory sits suffered about $50 million in damage from the storm.

John,

A lot of people have been upgrading their CI-700's to the Gemini system and I have seen several ads for the old controller and motors. Maybe post a wanted ad under Mounts, drives and Tripods and see if you get any nibbles.

Did the controller get wet? Do the LEDs still come on?

I would be willing to look at it to see if it could be repaired. I am an electronic tech, and I have repaired one of these before.
