Celestron SkyScout

I have an older Celestron Ultima 8 PEC (1990). I am thinking about upgrading it with encoders and a computer, to assist with it's operation. I am curious however about the SkyScout which runs about 399.00. It can be mounted to a camera piggy back bracket, which I have on this scope now. I wonder if this would be a 'cheap method' of assisting with star hunting etc?

Thanks,

I had hoped the SkyScout could be used in lieu of digital setting circles, but we now know that they can't because they are influenced by metal. Still I think in two or three years another vendor will market such a device as I think there would be a large market for it, especially among us visual only observers who eschew motor drives.
