cg-5 mount for a c-8?

looking to replace the wedge pod that came with the c-8 and was wondering if the cg-5 would be strong enough. my setup includes a newer black c-8, with a 9x50 ra finder, telrad, motofocus, and a piggy back om1. Any one used a setup like this? did it work out or was it as shakey as the wedge pod.
Thanks
Roger

I had a CG-5. I was pretty happy with it, but I went the opposite way and sold it and bought a fork mount. I now have a 1995 Ultima 8" PEC. The CG-5 had it's advantages, especially with an illuminated polar axis scope. Polar aligning was easy. It also allows for different OTA's although I never had any. I took some pictures with it, but it was shakey. I think I recall about 7-8 seconds dampening time after bumping it. The fork mount I have is much more solid.
I would not recommend to you to make that particular switch. Unless you can afford a little better GEM than a CG-5, I don't think you are going to come out ahead.
