Brass compression rings to hold eyepieces are wonderful. I would ask anyone using setscrews to remove and examine the ends of the setscrews for ridges or other bad finishing. Some can be awful. File them down to a smooth, flat, maybe slightly rounded shape, to prevent those nasty little dents or crescent rings on your eyepiece barrels. (Be careful not to damage the threads - they should still reinstall easily.) When you sell your eyepieces you won't have to apologize for them and the buyers will appreciate the undamaged barrels. Another thing to do is replace the metal thumbscrews with Nylon thumb screws. As with any of these techniques one has to be careful to make sure the eyepiece/diagonal is not too heavy, it can rotate and/slip.
This works particularly well with DOBs were the eyepiece cannot fall out under normal circumstances.
Of course I don't really worry about this sort of cosmetic detail too much. I don't expect eyepieces to be "minty" when they arrive and after an eyepiece is handled thousands and thousands of times, paint wears off, accidents happen....
