custom tube / cap source?

Hi -
I have a Vixen ED114SS. The dew shield is exactly the same diameter as the body and it screws onto the front cell.

I keep thinking if only I could get the same threaded tube, but cut only a inch or two long, I could put the cap on that and have a very short scope for airline portablity.
Another option would be to find a slightly larger tube (felt lined) that could slide down over the scope end (like the way the televue dew shield and cap works).

Any suggestions on where to look for a supplier or someone doing custom work that could provide a (not too expensive) solution for me? Thanks!

Another thought (and what I have done with some scopes in the past) is to remove the FOCUSER, rather then the lens/dew shield end. If the scopes have a screw off focuser - well just screw it off and get a plasic plug for the end - and if its held on by a series of screws (most Vixen's are...) then replace the three/four screws with small thumb screws so you can screw/unscrew the assemly quickly....
