Dew heater wire managementl

I have a few questions about orderly dew heater wire management for a truss dob. I have the Kendrick controller mounted on the mirror box and need to run power to 4-5 heaters (Telrad, eyepiece, finder, secondary, etc.) I'm thinking of running the wire(s) through one of the trusses.

1. How many heaters can I run from one RCA wire using splitters?
2. I've seen people's scopes where they have attached several RCA female outlets to the Telrad box or some other plastic box; anyone have pictures or diagram of such?
3. I have a Destiny 3-vane curved spider with Astrosystems secondary holder and am wondering how to run power to the Astrosystems dew heater; do I tape wires to the top of the spider or use the vanes for conduction? How do I run it through the vanes?

Thanks,
Eddie

I cant believe how expensive those Kendrick heater strips are. Close to $100 for a single heater for a 6" to 8" diameter tube (shipped.) Does anyone else make heater strips?

If you are just talking about the small 1" and 2" eyepiece
heaters, you could run a lot of them off an RCA wire. They
use something like 0.2 or 0.3 amps each. RCA wire is about
22 gauge that will take 5.0 amps. So the answer is about 15.

Now if you are talking about big 10" or 14" OTA heaters,
the answer is more like 1 or 2.

Theres not much to connecting these RCA female outlets.
Connect all the center pins together.
Usually there is a washer on the outer conductor with a solder
tab. Connect all the solder tabs together. The Astro Systems
diagonal heater will care about which lead is + or -, so you
will need to pay attention to that. I usually make all the
center pins and center conductors + to minimize confusion.

The easiest approach will be to get some thin wire and run it along the
front or back edges of the vane. Use some glue, and little bits of
masking tape to hold the wire in place until the glue dries. A good
wire to use is single conductor 24 gauge telephone wire or 30 gauge
"wire wrap" wire (very thin). Sometimes helps to temper the wire
first by stretching it with some pliers at each end (gets the kinks out),
then bending it to match the vanes, etc.

You can also get thin copper self-adhesive tape and run it on the
vane surface. Goggle "3m copper tape" and it should come right up.

Running power through the vanes will be too much work to retro-fit.
