Edmund vs Televue 2X barlow

I am buying a 4.5 Orion Dob to get my 11 year old son going. Also plan to add a 10" Orion Intelliscope in the future.
I have a 70's era 6" Edmunds "Super Space Conquerer" reflector on EM that I haven't used for about 15 years. With the Edmunds I have an old adjustable Barlow lens.

Question- Would a Televue or other 2X Barlow be recommended or is the Edmunds probably just fine-- even if I add a 10" Dob.

Thanks

The Edmund is probably fine. I compared my Edmund variable
against my TeleVue 3x couple years ago, and to my surprise
the Edmund was significantly better. It had much less color error.
So I would not dismiss that old Edmund Barlow. If you get
a chance, maybe borrow a TeleVue from someone and do the
test yourself, just to make sure.

Hi Arthur,If the barlow lens is anything like the edmund eyepieces it'll be a great barlow.I'd rather have it for myself.Edmund has great contrast for etra sharp views.I recieved a couple of the ep's and could'nt believe the clarity and contrast.Regards,Darrell
