Hi! I just got my second Orion XT10, this time the Intelliscope model with the crayford. I can only get it to focus on the extreme outer edge of focus travel, all extended, with pretty much any eyepiece, including the provided Sirius Plossls, the 4.8mm Nagler will not focus at all unless I move out the 1.25" adapter a 1/4 inch. Extremely weird, I know, especially since I compared this to my other XT10, which I still have. This can be caused by too close placement of the secondary to the primary? Any other cause? cwy
Can it be simply alleviated with buying an adpater, like the Televue 2", or are the optics compromised and I should return it?
I was very surprised when I could hardle get it to focus, no out focus travel at all on the outer side, it barely makes it into focus on most eyepieces - compared to well in on my other XT10.
Your advice would be very much appreciated!!! Thanks! Andrea M

I have the same story on an Orion 10" but the Newtonian version, for some reason the primary is too close to the secondary, an extension tube will work to get the ep to focus but the real fix is to move either the primary or the secondary further out and away. However just moving the ep out a 1/4 inch won't hurt anything. One other quick fix is to tighten all the colminating screws to move the primary further away, but you will have to recolminate. I did try this but the effect was small and not worth the effort to get perfect colmination again.
In short nothing to worry about if you come to focus even at the end of travel and no vignetting occurs.
