Have I/we been had?

I recently bought a used 1.25" Lumicon UHC filter here on AM. Upon opening the blue Lumicon case with the expected stickers and handwritten percentages, I found that the filter's ring had no writing on it at all. I was expecting to see "Lumicon UHC" in white all-caps around the outside. Are there older Lumicons that DON'T have labeling? The seller is distressed at this possibility as well. He acquired the filter in a sizable collection of stuff, and paid top dollar as I did. Any experiences to point us in the right direction?

No you haven't been had. As I understand all the older Lumicon filters weren't marked. I have seen about 7 of them, UHC, O-III and Deep Sky's that didn't have any markings at all on the edge.....can't tell really what one you have unless you use em and compare thru a scope while looking at an object. I know there's other ways to test to tell what you have but am not sure what the test is but think it uses a spectrometer.
