I am thinking abut purchasing a 10" Newt/Dobs. I have never used one before. How does one actually look through a straight finder scope that is mounted on top of the OTA (behind the focuser)? It looks difficult. For example, as seen here:

THE BEST THING TO DO WITH A BIG DOB IS TO GET A 9X50 RIGHT ANGLE VIEW FINDER COUPLED WITH A TELRAD. grin wink

I've noticed most "serious" scopes use straight-thru finders. Most "serious" observers do too.

Seriously. . .nah. . .

Mark, just lean over and look through it. It really is that simple.

Count me as one of those dinosaurs who still use a straight-through. Mainly because I am cheap and don't see the need to spend the $$$ to replace something that works for me. If I actually tried a right-angle w/amici then I might have a different opinion.

Besides, it helps keep the neck limber! wink

Best regards,
Doug
