Any thoughts on the new sale war between Celestron and Meade on the 8 inch SCTs? $1399 buys either one right now, I'm trying to decide which is the better scope for me.

Hello Mike,
I can't speak for the Nexstar, but I'm very happy with my LX-90. It is my first scope and I've owned it almost a year. I was taking a peek at Jupiter around 5am and I let the drive continue to track when I went back to bed. Five hours later, it's still right on target. I actually see more detail now (in sunlight), than I could in the bright pre-dawn moonlight!
I imagine the Nexstar is pretty good, as well. Either way, you can't go wrong for those prices. That's got to be one of the best values around.
