I am a real admirer of these great lenses. They are amazingly sharp and contrasty. They can sometimes be found at bargain prices: I paid $120.00 for my 1000mm f10 and $30.00 for my 500mm f8. In addition to using the 1000 as a long range lens on my Sony DSLR. I also find it to be a great scope which gives great views between 40x and 125x, using a Meade 8-24mm zoom eyepiece. It also becomes a fine digiscoper with the latter setup plus a Sony H70 P&S camera. The accompanying photo was taken with the 500mm plus a 1.4x teleconverter. The subject is a line transformer crop taken from a distance of ~40feet.

Here's one I took with the 1000mm. It's a crop of an image of a 6 day moon. This one was digiscoped.

Ron,

Nice photos, but are you sure about the Mak-Newt description? The LZOS lenses that I've seen are Maksutov-Cassegrain (MCT).
