Meade 2080 on a celestron SE 8 mount

hi all, I have a LX3 2080. i like it but finding the control part a little not so modern
I have a chance to pick up a celestron se8 mount with goto controller (no tripod) 175.00
I could make a new plate to mount it to my meade field tripod ( no problem there, I made my own custom Super Wedge)

What do you all think here. good idea or blasphemy?

Also 2nd phose of question here should I use it with the wedge or not. YES ROOKIE HERE

I use my Black C8, my ES102 refractor and my Brandon Master Birder ALL on my SE Celestron goto mount. Whatever works. I only do visual, - though I am going to try out my Neximage Solar System camera soon. Thomas
