Meade is actually alive

HOORAY!! Meade finally acknowledged the fact that I bought sky assurance back in December. At first I was getting the same old run around, just give me your phone# and email address and we'll get back in touch with you tomorrow. I stopped them in their tracks and demanded they hear me out.

After I told them about half of what was going on with my LXD75 AT mount they said please hold while I check for the contract on your sky assurance.

They came back to the phone and gave me a number to send it back in for free because they found my contract. I then made them listen to the rest of what was wrong with my mount from the time that I took it out of the box.

This guy laughed because he could'nt believe what I had to go through. I guess I sound kind of funny with my Kentucky accent and a few jokes in between. I finally will be getting my mount replaced. I know theres a part that can't be fixed so it will have to be replaced.

It only took 3 weeks for them to have UPS to pick up my mount, about 15 minutes ago. Man this was the toughest time I had ever had but they finally came through. I guess that makes you right again Jon, but I wish it would have been a little sooner. I suppose it would have if I had asserted myself the first time I was able to reach them.

Just a note to let you know that Meade is still alive- barely!!
Cheers, Darrell

Wouldn't it have been nice if they stepped up and did the right thing without having to buy ridiculous "telescope insurance".
What a rip-off. First they sell junk that needs repair/replacement, then charge you "insurance" to replace the junk they sold in the first place.
NICE SCAM!
I can't believe people actually buy into that garbage.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion...right? -Kurt Horsley

Hey Darrell,
That's good news and I hope the replacement arrives quickly and does a good job for you. grin

It is a shame that it took so long for them to make this right for you. Personally, I will never buy another Meade, and I had pretty good luck with mine. They must make a whole lot of money selling those dept. store scopes. I really wonder how many of those who have bought these have ever upgraded to a higher priced Meade telescope. :S

Hey, I could'nt believe it, Meade sent me my sky assurance contract. They have it written up like its for the LXD75-AR5 AT. I bought my AR5 on the factory outlet 4 months before I bought my mount. Just a little justice. I hope that if anything happens it will do so before it ends. With Meades reputation on electronics it will be sent at least 3 times by the time it ends. I actually don't expect the scope to tear up. It's always their electronics. I sure have been getting a lot of use with my dobs. Last night I was trying to build one perfect DS 2000 series mount out of 3 different ones. I think I have one I can use in emergencies. I don't know what happened, they all worked good then I stopped using them for a few months and they acted like they were mad at me or some thing. Just went all over the place, hitting the tripod, going the wrong direction. I'm going to train the drives on a few of them, that seemed to help before. I tried 4 or 5 different autostars which could'nt help at all. I think I confused every one of them. But anyway, I got my contract only 3 months after I bought it. Finally getting somewhere, Darrell
